FAROL DO SABER / FAROL DA CIDADE
Bibliotecas municipais, situadas em escolas ou logradouros públicos, com acervo referencial de cinco mil livros - técnico-didáticos e literatura - inspiradas em dois marcos da antigüidade: a biblioteca e o farol de Alexandria. A construção modular, em estrutura metálica, tem 17 metros de altura e 98 m2 de área construída. Sua divisão interna é simples: o andar térreo - onde estão os livros -, um mezanino e uma escada em caracol, que conduz ao topo da torre, onde fica uma guarita, coberta por abóbada metálica e em cima, um galo. O Farol das Cidades, único no seu gênero, diferencia-se dos demais pelo seu acervo, composto por vídeos e CD-roms, estando equipado com computadores e conectado à Internet , com acesso livre e gratuito à população. Atualmente são 45 Faróis distribuídos nos diferentes bairros da cidade de Curitiba.
Knowledge Lighthouse - City Lighthouse
The Knowledge and City Lighthouse are municipal libraries inspired on the ancient Alexandria’s library and lighthouse with five thousand technical -didactic and literature books, located in schools and public locations. The metallic modular construction has 17 meters of height and 98 square meters. It is internally simply divided: the ground floor - where the books are located, a mezzanine and a spiral stairs that leads to the tower’s top, an observation area covered with a metallic vault. The City Lighthouse, unique in its kind, has as features videos, CD-ROM’s and it is equipped with PCs connected to Internet and the City Hall electronic mapping, the access is public and free from any charges. Currently are 45 "Faróis do Saber" (public libraries) distributed in the different quarters of the city of Curitiba.
